Welcome!

Welcome to the Lisa Lambe Navy!

Lisa Lambe is a renowned Irish actress and vocalist who has starred in numerous title roles in top theatrical productions throughout Ireland, Europe and the UK. Regarded as one of the most sought after performers in Ireland, Lisa Lambe’s natural talent began shining from the young age of three and was polished with a degree in performance from Trinity College Dublin.

Lisa Lambe’s career accolades span from the dramatic stage to musical theater; film and television to radio performances. She has been a featured soloist with Ireland’s RTE Concert Orchestra, and was a favorite soloist on Ireland’s popular TV program “The Late Late Show” leading to collaborations with RTE affiliated musicians Shay Healy and Frank McNamara.

Lisa Lambe’s critically praised vocal roles include The Shaughraun directed by John McColgan (under the Musical Direction of David Downes; The Abbey Theatre), The Wiremen by Shay Healy (The Gaiety Theatre), Sweeney Todd (The Gate Theatre). Lisa Lambe was nominated for a Best Actress Award at The Irish Times Theatre Awards for her performance in the lead role of “Philomena O Shea” in Rough Magic’s musical Improbable Frequency where she performed at The Edinburgh Theatre Festival, in Torun (Poland), and in Dublin.

Some of us first came to know Lisa when she joined Celtic Woman.  Lynn Hilary had stepped aside at the end of the Australia tour in late 2010.  David Downes selected yet another winner.  Celtic Woman had her out and about even before her first spring tour in 2011.  Her debut on stage with the ensemble in Florida that tour was flawless.  It was as though she had always been with them.  Since then she has gone from strength to strength in tour after tour, wrapping her curly red locks around many a heart in the process.  Tours in the USA and Canada, as well as Europe and South Africa, through 2013 are under her belt.  In addition, there have been promo tours and TV appearances along with numerous interviews.  Her first DVD recording with Celtic Woman came in Atlanta in 2011 and now PBS audiences all over the country have been introduced to this rising Irish star.  We hope she will grace the stage with that ensemble for as long as she wishes and we know you'll love her when you attend a show.

So why the Lisa Lambe Navy?  It all comes from the fun song, Téir Abhaile Riú, which was introduced in 2011.  The title translates to "Go Home With You" and is quite the fling.  It has always been a fun song but in 2013 it changed a bit.  Chloë and Lisa began it in the audience with a argumentative banter that wound up involving audience members.  At one point, usually, if the venue layout permitted, a patron would wind up with an Irish girl on their lap!  You have thus been made one of the Galway sailors!  So with that some fans began a new tradition of saluting her and she began saluting back.  Those who have been graced with her in their lap are self-described officers and others recruits and sailors.  It is all great fun and Lisa has been a real gem having a great time with it and her navy.  So there you have it!
