It was not in my plans to attend the Christmas DVD recording. Notice was too short and so fares would be too high. But we also had something else on the plate and that was a business meeting in Dublin. So, with a bit of barter with Tony, we decided to bite the bullet and go. We opted to keep it quiet to surprise the girls. We also wanted to surprise the fans as they thought no major reviewer would be there.
So, Tony and I arrived on Monday morning and met up with Neil from Canada. For that day and Tuesday we did the tourist thing with me partially as their guide. But the day of the show was a busy one. We met up for our business meeting with Celtic Nights. I had invited two of the management to join us and requested four tickets to allow for that. We picked our tickets up this morning and then spent the rest of the day leading up to the show with Bekah and Jamie. They would attend the show with us for the purpose of gaining knowledge toward their own DVD recording.
We arrived at the venue at six and then waited to gain entry for open seating. We wound up front row of the house right section. The set and stage is a fine black and white effect but lights add varying color. The venue capacity tonight is only 750. You will love the way this looks on the DVD.
I'll just touch on the LL moments here and there are many. Lisa starts in a silver top with white skirt. She starts off right away joining in with he opening song, Walking In A Winter Wonderland. She is in the third song, another group piece, We Wish You A Merry Christmas. We then Get Lisa's first solo, the beautiful I'll Be Home For Christmas. Truly a treasure and another song she connects with so well. Next up Lisa joins in with Hark The Herald. A couple songs later she joins the others in we Three Kings. After an M solo Lisa leads the way into some beautiful harmony in O Tannenbaum sung mostly in German, a language in which she is fluent. A couple songs later we get a happy rendition by the girls with It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas complete with snow. Next song she joins Meav and M in a gorgeous The Light Of Christmas Morn. Wow! Teary eyed. In the first show they had a minor light issue and do a re-take. A couple songs later we get Lisa's second solo, the always moving Auld Lang Syne. Man is she good! Final song is a group piece, Joy to The World.
We get a half hour break while they move cameras. Then there is a second recording. Only change here is they open with a song they say will not air on TV. It is the gorgeous harmony of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. The only other change is we get an encore of Let It Snow!
All in all a delightful show and evening well worth your purchase when it comes out. Lisa was pure gold as she always seems to be and it didn't hurt that before the show she saw me in the lobby and we exchanged salutes! Well done, L'il Lambe!
